Vasilchikova House (Chess Club) Address : Gogolevsky bulvar 14
In the 1820s the Vasilchikov
family built two houses in the Classical style. The son of the owners, N. A.
Vasilchikov, was connected with the Decembrists, and after his return from
exile in the 1830s the houses were sold to the Zubov family. Soon the two
houses were joined together into one, and the facade was reworked in the
Renaissance style. In 1865 it was sold to the von Mekk family, and in 1875
