The Kropotkinskaya Metro Station

Address : Ploshchad Prechistenskikh vorot

Until it was demolished in 1933, the Church of the Descent of the Holy Spirit dating to 1699 stood on this site. The metro station designed by A. N. Dushkin and Ya. G. Likhtenberg was built in 1935 to provide access to the Palace of Soviets. The aboveground entrance of the station is in the form of a pavilion covered by an arched vault supported by two vestibules. The underground vestibule is faced in white marble taken from the demolished Cathedral of Christ the Savior.\
