Doroshenko Manor

In the 17th century the entire odd-numbered side of Lenivka St. was occupied by the manor of P.F. Doroshenko, a daughter of a palace steward executed during the reign of Peter I. In the 18th century the estate belonged to Lieutenant General V. V. Naryshkin. Later it was divided, the southern part passing to I. N. Yefimovich and the northern to A. F. Griboyedov, an uncle of the writer. In 1906 the latter part was acquired by the merchant A. M. Zimulin, whose two-story house (Volkhonka 11) was home to the artist V. A. Tropinin, who had a studio on Lenivka St. The new building on the corner with Volkhonka St. was constructed in 1879 by M. I. Nikiforov.
